Happiness ... Let Me Count The Ways

What makes you come alive, makes you happy.   I believe to be happy, you must be at peace with yourself and everything around you will somehow fall into place.

These are some of my ways to be mentally, emotionally and spiritually happy, and staying happy, no matter what the weather may be.




1.       Be happy … you don’t need anybody’s permission.

2.       Have a positive mindset.

3.       Think good thoughts.  Look for the good in people.

4.       Don’t judge.

5.       Forgive yourself for whatever mistakes you’ve done in the past.

6.     Forgive others and free yourself.  Everybody make mistakes.  Release your anger and bitterness. Allow forgiveness and love to enter your heart.  Then only can you be at peace.

7.       No one is perfect – but look beyond the imperfections.

8.       You can’t change people but you can change the way you look at things.

9.       Accept the things that you can’t change.

10.    Accept that not everything is perfect or can be perfect all of the time.

11.    You are not perfect and you’re okay with that.

12.  Be comfortable in your own skin - whether you're thin, fat, tall, short, good-looking or not.

13.   Appreciate yourself.

14.   Show appreciation to others.  People always like to be appreciated.

15.   Be grateful and show your gratitude … to Him and to others.

16.   Give words of encouragement to someone who needs it.

17.   Smile at people.  Do it sincerely.

18.   Give and take.  Don't always take without giving.  

19.   Be kind … not only to others, but also to yourself, and, to the environment.

20. Take time for yourself.  Squeeze in some time for yourself every day, or you’ll have nothing to give to others.

21. Know that the world would still go on, without you – you’re not Superman or Wonder Woman.

22.   Look after your health … physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

23.   There’s a time to work and there’s a time to play.

24.   Stop worrying.  Realize that worrying will not solve anything.

25.   Laugh at yourself.

26.   See the funny side of things.

27.   Hug your kids.

28.   Show love to your significant other and your loved ones.
 
29. Spend more time with your family and be present not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well.

30.   Cook your family's favorite meal – perhaps even, cook together.

31.  Eat together and share a harmonious time with your family and loved ones.

32.  Feel the love and the warmth … of being loved and loving.  You deserve it!

33.   Nurture your inner self - your emotional strength, spirituality ...

34.   Read a good book.  Read to your children.

35. Read up on various subjects of interest to improve your knowledge and sharpen your mind.  Never stop learning.

36. Take a walk in the park, by the sea or in nature.  Release all tensions and stress and just enjoy the scenery.

37.   Listen to your favorite music.  Breathe.  Let it go. Relax.

38. De-clutter your mind.  Get rid of all the negativity.  Fill it with love.  Be at peace.  Feel the harmony in your life.

39. De-clutter your physical space –  your work area, your car, kitchen, closets, etc.  Give away, recycle, junk it.

40. Take care of your appearance.  You don’t have to be beautiful or handsome but you should always be clean and tidy.  You're not doing it for other people, you do it for yourself because it makes you feel  good.

41. Stop buying more and more stuff.  Affirm to yourself that you have enough of everything that you need right now.

42.   Watch less TV …  don’t let life pass you by. 

43.   Keep in touch with friends.

44. Always take away a lesson from whatever challenges you encounter.  Don't stay stuck in self-pity.  Let it go.  Dry your tears and take the next step.  Move forward. 

45. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because it’s from mistakes that we learn important life lessons which are never thought in classrooms … as they say, in life, the answers are not at the back.

46.   Have faith.

47.   Pray/meditate daily.  

48. Enjoy the simple things in life – the fresh air, the clean water, beautiful night sky, warm sunlight, roof over your head, peaceful condition …  These are the things we take for granted but in some parts of the world, they do not even have the basic necessities to live.

49.   Celebrate yourself … that you are alive, safe, that all is well.

50. Once in awhile give yourself a treat - eating your favorite food, buy yourself flowers, go to a spa, etc.

51. Pursue your interest or passion … like learning to dance or learning a musical instrument, or take up painting, yoga, etc. … anything that will make you come alive.

Always remember ... You not only deserve to be happy but you are worthy of happiness.
