A Tribute To Oprah

“Start embracing the life that is calling you and use your life to serve the world.”

This was her last wisdom on her final show on May 25, 2011 and it will always be etched in our hearts and memory.

How do you thank someone who has inspired you to live your best life, being the best you can be and at the same time giving a helping hand to others along the way?

Oprah has touched many lives, including mine, and has made a difference to all those who have “met” her.  She has not only touched our hearts but also our minds in the most beautiful way.

Many of us have not the privilege of meeting her personally but through the screen, thousands of miles away, she has touched all our lives.  Sharing her experience, motivating us, empowering us, her generosity and humanity are all part of her charisma.

Oprah, you are a rare and precious gift to the world and I know for sure that I and many others have become better people today through your very presence on this earth.

You made us feel strong, loved and worthy, and that we can all have our dreams fulfilled no matter what color of skin or background and where we are coming from.

I take great pride to place here some of her greatest wisdom which I hope will be of great inspiration to you as they will always be to me:-

"Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you higher."

"You don't become what you want, you become what you believe"

"The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be."

"You look at yourself and you accept yourself for who you are, and once you accept yourself for who you are you become a better person."

"It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you - always."

"You are built not to shrink down to less but to blossom into more."

"Life is about becoming more of who you really are...."

"What other people label or might try to call failure, I have learned is just God's way of pointing you in a new direction"

"Whatever you fear most has no power--it is your fear that has the power."

"You face the biggest challenge of all: to have the courage to seek your big dream regardless of what anyone says. You are the only person alive who can see your big picture and even you can't see it all."

"You are responsible for your life. You can't keep blaming somebody else for your dysfunction. Life is really about moving on."

"I am a woman in process. I'm just trying like everybody else. I try to take every conflict, every experience, and learn from it. Life is never dull."

"Turn your wounds into wisdom."

"The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams."

"Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."

"I trust that everything happens for a reason, even if we are not wise enough to see it."

"True forgiveness is when you can say, "Thank you for that experience."

“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.”

“Giving is not just about being able to write a check. It's being able to touch somebody's life.”

"Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not."

"Your true passion should feel like breathing; it’s that natural."

"If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough."

"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for."

"Step away from the Mean Girls… and say bye-bye to feeling bad about your looks.  Are you ready to stop colluding with a culture that makes so many of us feel physically inadequate? Say goodbye to your inner critic, and take this pledge to be kinder to yourself and others.

"This is a call to arms.  A call to be gentle, to be forgiving, to be generous with yourself.  The next time you look into the mirror, try to let go of the story line that says you're too fat or too sallow, too ashy or too old, your eyes are too small or your nose too big;  just look into the mirror and see your face. When the criticism drops away, what you will see then is just you, without judgment, and that is the first step toward transforming your experience of the world."

"Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail.”

“Failure is another stepping stone to greatness."

"If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay."

"When people show you who they are ... believe them!"

"Be thankful for what you have;  you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

"The essential question is not, "How busy are you?" but "What are you busy at?"  "Are you doing what fulfills you?"

"I will tell you that there have been no failures in my life. I don't want to sound like some metaphysical queen, but there have been no failures. There have been some tremendous lessons."

"I am grateful for the blessings of wealth, but it hasn't changed who I am.  My feet are still on the ground. I 'm just wearing better shoes."

"The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance - and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning."

“It doesn’t matter what your mama did;  it doesn’t matter what your daddy didn’t do.  You are responsible for your life!”

"I believe there's a calling for all of us. I know that every human being has value and purpose.  The real work of our lives is to become aware.  And awakened, to answer the call."

"To love yourself is a never-ending journey.”

Oprah, this is not goodbye ... it's certainly not the end ... but the beginning of a wonderful journey.

You go, girl!

Wishing you the most beautiful and wonderful experience in the next phase of your journey.
